PILAR GLOWING GARDEN JARDIN NECITAS

A Garden of illuminated LED Flowers cascading around a hill with a breathtaking view with 5,000 roses and 15,000 tulips. Made from thousand multicolored plastic roses and tulips that light up during nightfall, the stem is made out of a steel bar that the flowers stand on.

HOW TO GET THERE

Public Transportation from Tagbilaran City. It takes around two hours, heads to the integrated bus station Dao Terminal and catches a bus going to Pilar. Drop off at Pilar Public Market hire a tricycle or habal-habal going to Bitoon Jardin Necitas.

CHOCOLATE HILLS

The Chocolate Hills are probably Bohol’s most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women’s breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child’s drawing. Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact.

HOW TO GET THERE

One can go by public bus going to the Chocolate Hills Complex in the town of Carmen Available at the Dao Integrated Bus Terminal in Tagbilaran City. The complex is about 55 kilometers away and 1 hour & 30 minutes travel away from the city. Travel time may be shorter if one travels by private vehicle as stops are lesser if none at all before reaching the spot.

PUNTA CRUZ WATCH TOWER

The Punta Cruz Watchtower was built to help guards keep watch for approaching invaders during the pre-Hispanic era. Built in 1796, this perfect isosceles triangle watchtower (the only structure so formed in the country) was built to watch the coast of Bohol Strait and the neighboring island of Cebu from possible marauders.

HOW TO GET THERE

For Bus and Jeep – from Tagbilaran to Punta Cruz Php 20.00 pax For Private Car/Car for Hire – from Tagbilaran to Punta Cruz Php 500.00 Drop off at Maribojoc Public Market and you can ride a habal-habal or tricycle going to Punta Cruz Watch Tower.

HINAGDANAN CAVE

The Hinagdanan Cave, meaning ”laddered” in Cebuano, is one of the many wonderous caves in the island province of Bohol. The cave was accidentally discovered by a farmer; while clearing his land he found 2 holes, curious, he dropped a stone and heard a splash. He built a ladder ”hagdan” and was able to access the cave and find its hidden beauty, thus the origin of the name Hinagdanan. Aside from its awe-inspiring natural beauty, Hinagdanan also holds a bit of history from the Second World War. The cave was once used as a hideout by the locals to escape from the Japanese Imperial Army, But Unfortunately, they were still found.

The Bohol Man-Made is a mahogany forest stretching in a 2km stretch of densely planted with Mahogany trees located in the border of Loboc and Bilar towns. Before and after you reach the man-made forest there are also naturally grown forest of Loboc and bilar which has a thick kaleidoscope of green foliage, different kinds of trees and giant ferns lining the road.

Bilar Man-made Forest is located on the border of Loboc and Bilar towns. It is about 40 kilometers away and approximately 50 minutes travel from Tagbilaran City. Vehicles going to chocolate hills in Carmen regularly pass along this route making it a popular stop for tourists.

BLOOD COMPACT SHRINE

This Sikatuna-Legaspi blood compact is considered as the First Treaty of Friendship Cultures and civilizations. It was a treaty of friendship based on respect and equality. This event is commonly known as Sandugo. Miguel Lopez de Legazpi landed on the shores of Bohol on May 10, 1565. It was the fifth expedition that the King of Spain had sent to the Philippine archipelago after Magellan.

HOW TO GET THERE

It is only 3 kilometer and a short 10-minute ride away from downtown Tagbilaran. One may take a Tricycle, a public bus or jeep coming from Dao Bus Terminal or from the Plaza Rizal Park to get to the Blood Compact Commemorative Shrine. A private car to get there is another convenient option.
